The main character in The Hunger Games is Katniss Everdeen, she volunteered as a tribute for her sister Primrose Everdeen. Katniss is a very important character because she shows courage when facing others in the games. Another important character is Peeta Mellark, the baker that gave her the piece of burnt bread when she was starving. Both characters are important because they both fight in the Hunger Games. Katniss is humble because on page 239 it states, "My thanks to people of District 11", I say. I want them to know where it came from. That the full value of their gift has been recognized. Peeta has't changed from the beginning because he always doubts himself, so we can say that he stays static. We can prove this because it states, "Only, I wish I could think of a way to show the Capitol they don't own me . That I'm more than just a piece in their games", on page 172. Peeta also says that he can't fight thta he is a baker, this can be proven on page 90,when its states "I’m sure the arena will be full of bags of flour for me to chuck at people. "
